The Business Impact Manager (BIM) serves a pivotal, strategic role in driving the operations and influencing the direction of Oliver Wyman’s Practice and sub-practices. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing key strategies that enhance overall practice performance and market positioning. BIM is central in shaping and implementing the practice’s vision, ensuring that operational insights and strategic goals align seamlessly.
The role entails significant responsibility in managing high-impact projects that span various functions such as organizing team meetings, developing and maintaining comprehensive management information systems (MIS), monitoring content development and other investments, supporting go-to-market offerings, and interacting with commercial platforms. Integral to these duties is the BIM’s collaboration with different support functions like finance, business development/project lifecycle, marketing, legal, talent management, and events, ensuring coordinated support across the practice.
The BIM is also instrumental in the annual strategy and budget-setting process, ensuring execution and ongoing progress towards practice goals.
The Business Impact Manager supports and drives the strategic direction of their responsible areas, utilizing methodologies such as story-lining, presentation development, and detailed modeling to effectively communicate the strategy. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

- Lead the development, articulation, and implementation of strategic plans and operational initiatives across the Practice.
- Act as a strategic partner to the Practice Leadership Team, driving agendas that support key objectives, and ensuring alignment between strategic planning and operational execution.
- Execute projects aligned with practice’s strategic priorities, leveraging resources and expertise from across the firm to achieve outcomes.
- Facilitate leadership and team meetings, ensuring agendas are purposeful, outcomes are tracked, and strategic priorities are clearly communicated.
- Develop and draft insightful internal communications and comprehensive business cases to support strategic decision-making and investments.
- Oversee the organization and execution of team events and activities, aligning them with strategic goals.
- Coordinate and manage global projects that support the practice’s strategic direction and operational framework.
- Work in partnership with finance and practice leadership to develop, maintain, and track investments, ensuring efficient budgeting processes.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support annual budgeting and capacity planning processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Ensure the effective management of both ‘hard-’ and ‘soft-dollar’ investments to optimize resource allocation.
- Collaborate with talent management to set strategic recruiting goals, interview senior candidates, and develop data-driven analysis to inform recruiting strategies.
- Manage onboarding and integration processes for new joiners, especially at senior levels, ensuring alignment with practice goals.
- Drive employee retention and attrition analyses, developing strategic insights to enhance human capital management.
- Coordinate the annual performance review process and objective-setting in conjunction with talent management, ensuring alignment with practice’s strategic priorities.
- Analyze and enhance the practice's commercial effectiveness through strategic initiatives and operational improvements.
- Support client and client team requests, working collaboratively with departments like Legal, Finance, and IT to address strategic challenges and opportunities.
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies, shaping the editorial calendar, and coordinating event logistics to support practice visibility and client engagement.
- Over 5 years of experience in professional services, including strategic project management and client interaction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives, with strong storytelling and communication skills, proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including familiarity with generative AI and work-optimization tools.
- Proven track record of building and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with colleagues at all levels, including executive audiences.
- Keen sense for identifying business opportunities and challenges from multiple perspectives.
