JOB TITLE: HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN

SUPERVISION: Directed by Director of Nursing
PURPOSE:
The Health Information Management Technician (HIM) works to manage the coordination of care for patients through the incoming and outgoing records. Candidates organize in-house and outpatient appointment scheduling, including transportation coordination, and assist in nursing staff scheduling and ordering of supplies in collaboration with the Director of Nursing (DON). Successful candidates for the HIM Technician should be passionate about providing high-quality, patient-centered care. This position reports directly to the Director of Nursing.
Essential Functions:
Organizes, sorts, and maintains documentation in patient electronic files in a timely manner.
Provides clerical support, which may include preparation of admission, orientation, and new hire packets, typing, special projects, filing, and copying. Phones, faxes, and scanning.
Confirms consents signed in new admission charts, documents/communicates respite care, and ensures DNR status is in place correctly and TB compliance is met.
Assists in creating and maintaining the nursing staff schedule in coordination with the DON.
Ordering of nursing supplies in coordination with the DON.
Arranges transportation for residents' medical appointments, ensuring timely and efficient travel plans.
Promotes and presents a positive image to patients/families, physicians, and community agencies.
Perform other duties as required.
