INTERN - GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Actively enrolled in a university or college pursuing a degree in geographic information systems (GIS), a GIS technical program, or other related field of study.
OR
Graduation from an accredited college within the last six (6) months.

Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver’s license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.The Olmsted County Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team is seeking to fill a temporary/seasonal internship position to assist with various GIS activities. The GIS internship opportunity will provide practical GIS work experience and build real-world geospatial skills used by professionals in the field within a local government setting. The GIS intern will work with the GIS team on projects and tasks that will apply a variety of GIS skills to provide geospatial data collection, analysis, and mapping services for assigned projects and tasks. • All work is performed under the direction and guidance of the GIS Manager, GIS Analysts, or GIS Specialists with work assignments that are designed to provide a meaningful training experience while completing daily and special project workloads that are related to academic studies and/or career goals.

• Experience with Esri suite of ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
• Knowledge of basic geographic information system principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge of computers and applicable software applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively including written, oral and interpersonal communications.
