Starting Pay - $22.72 - $28.41 (Based on Experience)

Minimum Qualifications :
Medical terminology preferred
Computer data entry skills preferred
Phlebotomy experience preferred
Previous laboratory experience preferred
BLS certification within 90 days of hire
Core Competencies :
Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection techniques according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of laboratory science practice.
Performs waived and moderately complex laboratory testing according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of laboratory science practice.
Manages patient orders accurately and efficiently.
Performs specimen processing and handling according to established protocols, procedures, and standards of laboratory practice.
Applies patient safety standards and patient management methods to laboratory practice.
Excellent communication skills. Able to anticipate the next step and seamlessly handoff to colleagues.
Thinks critically and can make independent decisions.
Practices the ethics of the profession.
Job Responsibilities :
Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy collection techniques and patient management, including venipuncture, capillary puncture, and (as applies) arterial puncture.
Demonstrates proficiency in patient preparation and specimen collection techniques for throat culture, urine, and other requested specimens.
Demonstrates proficiency in waived and moderate level testing for immunology, urinalysis, chemistry, hematology, limited microbiology, and molecular microbiology (as applies).
Demonstrates good working knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance.
Demonstrates proficiency in documenting patient specimen flow in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
Processes specimens according to requirements, including preparation of specimens for dispatch to external labs as needed. Demonstrates a working knowledge of accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Completes assigned quality assurance activities.
Participates in inventory management and accurately documents necessary information.
Maintains accurate records of testing, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Maintains a safe work environment and complies with standards for safe practice and standard precautions.
Assists with new employee orientation and training.
