What are the responsibilities and job description for the Meat Cutter and Wrapper position at Olsen's Piggly Wiggly?
Our meat cutters and wrappers are responsible for promoting a friendly atmosphere by consistently providing the very best in customer service to our guests. The main responsibility of our Meat Cutters is to create and prepare high-quality meat products for our customers. In addition, our Meat Cutters will assist customers with recommending products and advising them on the best methods of preparation and safe handling.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve customers in the Meat & Seafood Department while modeling Olsen’s Piggly Wiggly culture and providing the very best in customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging and thanking every guest for their business
- Provide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions and making suggestions
- Prepare all service case items for the Meat and Seafood case, including, but not limited to, kabobs, marinades, and gourmet burgers, roasts, steaks and chops.
- Grind meat according to the daily production list as well as record all items in accordance with all state and federal guide lines.
- Cut various portions of meat, including, but not limited to beef, veal, lamb, pork and poultry based on daily production needs
- Maintain grind and sanitation logs
- Assist with maintaining back coolers, including, but not limited to rotating and dating for quality and freshness
- Assist with ordering for Meat and Seafood Department
- Assist with creating displays based on the weekly sales ad
- Operate, maintain and clean Meat & Seafood equipment including knives, grinder(s), saw(s), tumblers, cubers and coolers
- Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Meat & Seafood Department
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
- Assist with all other Meat & Seafood Department responsibilities as needed
Qualifications
- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Meat & Seafood equipment
- Prior experience with meat cutting is required
- Excellent communication, organizational and planning skills
- Ability to make independent decisions and prioritize
- Strong knowledge of local and state health, sanitation and safety regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong sense of urgency, time management, prioritization and multitasking skills
- Strong sense of team – ability to anticipate the needs of the team
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

- Ability to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including evening, weekend and holiday shifts
