Responsible to: Behavior Support Supervisor
Job Summary:
Victory Learning Center will include working with students, 5 – 21 years old that are typically diagnosed on the Autism spectrum with mental health concerns and developmental or intellectual disabilities.
Staff working in an educational setting are responsible for the delivery of evidence-based methods to support individuals’ special needs. These methods include Applied Behavior Analysis, Restorative Practices, and Trauma Informed Care. The Education Support Staff (Float) will provide classroom support in the event of staff absence or staff shortages. This position will also provide direct support for students attending the WAY program.
Essential Job Duties:
The Education Support Staff (Float) must be able to successfully perform all essential functions of the position as follows:
Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Associates Degree or Higher in Human Services, Special Education or related field
Experience:
Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years in the development/implementation of behavior support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns.
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.

The Education Support Staff (Float) must be able to successfully perform all essential functions of the position as follows:
- The primary role of the Education Support Staff is to provide coverage wherever needed to maintain ratio. Daily assignments will vary based on the needs of the building. Assignments may include:
- Driving to gym (Martin Rd Location)
- Lunch coverage while staff members take breaks
- Additional support for students during special area times
- CSE and meeting coverage while staff members attend
- Being assigned to either VLC location due to staffing needs
- Will be assigned on a rotating basis to attend WAY activities with students that need additional support during time out of the building.
- Will be assigned arrival and dismissal duties.
- Takes an active role in participating in and supporting a therapeutic and safe milieu.
- Develops a working knowledge of therapeutic interventions and interactions.
- Responsible for assistance with personal hygiene tasks, as required.
- Attends and participates in community meetings, team meetings, and debrief meetings.
- Assists with conducting professional development training and team building activities.
- Performs all scheduled cleaning tasks and environmental rounds.
- Performs student belongings searches, as directed by administration. Understands the contraband list.
- Any other duty as assigned by your supervisor.
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel in particular)
- Knowledge of basic sign language a plus, but not a requirement.

Minimum Experience Required: 3-5 years in the development/implementation of behavior support plans with individuals who have developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns.
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge and competencies in Applied Behavioral Analysis
- Valid NYS Driver’s License
- All required agency trainings (including Applied Behavior Analysis, SCIP-R)
- All trainings required by programs in which you service individuals
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.

- The frequent physical demands of the position are standing, walking, climbing, talking, hearing, repetitive motions, and eye/hand/foot coordination.
