Job Summary :

This clinical practicum for undergraduate music therapy students is designed to address knowledge of American Music Therapy Professional Competencies in Clinical Foundations : exceptionality, principles of therapy and the therapeutic relationship and Music Therapy : Foundations and Principles, Client Assessment, Treatment Planning, Therapy Implementation, Therapy Evaluation, Documentation, Termination / Discharge Planning and Supervision. Structures experiences include weekly field placements in a school / day care setting, including documentation and supervision. Senior students are expected to be more independent in their clinical work than previous clinical experiences. Students are required to lead and participate in individual and / or group music therapy sessions, developing and implementing a variety of effective music therapy interventions for the early childhood setting.

• Ability to design and implement music therapy sessions and to maintain classroom structure
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Interest in people and a desire to help others empower themselves
• Knowledge is assessing a clients’ needs and, planning and providing appropriate music sessions

Education :

Active undergraduate / graduate student in a Music Therapy program from a local college

Physical Requirements :

The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
