OLV Human Services is on the hunt for an enthusiastic and passionate Physical Education Teacher to join our Intensive Treatment Program (ITP)! 🏀🏈🎾
The ITP School programs offer specialized educational services for students who are diagnosed with Autism or a Cognitive Disability paired with a mental health diagnosis. There are 2 separate school sites located in Lackawanna, NY servicing students ages 5-21 who are residentially placed in OLV's Intensive Treatment Program or are referred through their local school district's Committee on Special Education.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible to : Principal
Job Summary :
Plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for students with Autism, Intellectual Disability, and / or mental health involvement in a variety of educational settings. The person in this position is responsible for creating flexible program and learnings environment that provides specialized activities in physical education for students with disabilities.
Essential Job Duties :
- Provides an educational climate that success, independence, a productive atmosphere, and provides students with encouragement, safety and stimulation.
- Completes weekly lesson plans based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum which follows the New York State Educational Department Learning Standards.
- Prepares lessons and other instructional materials to meet individual needs of students based upon their IEP.
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge of : subject matter- Physical Education, ability to think critically, and individualized instruction.
- Implement and share effective behavior management techniques or plans.
- Act as a team leader of classroom staff including assistants, therapists and social workers.
- Communicate effectively with parents (through notebooks, phone calls, conferences, district meetings, etc.)
- Complete log notes based on student goals as per the IEP(progress and / or regression)
- Complete quarterly progress reports on all students that are distributed to parents and the school districts.
- Maintain client confidentiality within HIPPA / FERPA and agency guidelines.
- Any other duties assigned by supervisor
