What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker School Counselor position at OLV Human Services?
Job Summary:
Social Worker School Counselors are responsible for providing high quality support and services for the children and others we serve. They utilize effective communication and interaction skills with students, children, families and others to promote success and help those we serve achieve the highest possible quality of life.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Provide individual counseling and crisis counseling as needed
2. Provide family sessions and family contact as appropriate
3. Complete required paperwork (all client contacts, progress notes, tx plans and reviews)
4. Case management and coordination with other service providers and families
5. Crisis Management
6. Provide support and explanation to education staff regarding students (sensitize to trauma and clinical need
7. Complete academic paperwork (IEP goals, be present for CSE meetings
8. Reading and sending emails internally to keep staff informed
9. Attend meetings as necessary
10. Any other duty as required by you supervisor
Skills:
Education Required:
Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
Experience Required:
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.

Education Required:
Master’s degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
Experience Required:
- At least 1 year of experience working with children and families in a Social Work or Mental Health setting. This may include an internship.
- Must have one of the following NYS Licensure: LMSW/LCSW/LMHC/LMHC-P or;
- NYS Licensure eligible and obtain licensure within 6 months from date of hire
- TCI Certification (training provided by OLV Human Services)
- New Hire Orientation
The overall nature of the position is sedentary requiring little physical effort with occasional light physical exertion required. There is little, if any, exposure to environmental conditions.
