Summary/Objective
The drafts person supports the fire safety team by providing expertise in creating detailed plans that locate and identify fire safety equipment. Half of this role is survey work; the other half is drafting.
Essential Functions
- Survey buildings and properties to locate and identify fire safety equipment
- Coordinate design with fire safety team
- Prepare fire safety equipment plans for the fire safety team
- Go on site to locate fire safety equipment and verify the equipment exists.
- Draft/create fire safety equipment
- Responsible for as-built measures and verifications of existing life safety equipment infrastructure and newly acquired properties
- Plot and print drawings and site plans for fire safety team
- Take site photos
- Assist the drafting team with correction and changes to plans

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and in commercial spaces including but not limited to industrial, warehouse and office environments. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions. This may include confined locations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 8-10 years AutoCAD design experience
- Drivers’ license
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong understanding of the relation between the building code, ADA compliance, and design
- Experience in real-estate and commercial office sector
- Understanding of BOMA standards of measurement and ability to put in application
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel
Some travel necessary. Most travel is within the local area.

Must be able to legally work in the United States.
