Components Floater

Summary/Objective 
The Components Floater position safely performs metal fabrication, packaging, and painting/powder coating as needed for a variety of Olympia’s components.

Essential Functions

• Spot welding, bending and forming of metals
• Machine operations to include shears, brakes and shaping machines

• Use of tape measure and hand tools
• Boxing and packaging items

• Perform prescribed maintenance as required
• Check dimensions for accuracy
• Perform all part inspections
• Detect and report defective materials and questionable conditions
• May work at different workstations as production needs require, e.g., different assemblies, lathe, Tee’s and elbows)
• Apply paint/powder coating to various vent products
• Prepare surface with cleaning solution to remove oil, dust, dirt, etc.
• Use powder coating or paint guns to paint product. Adjust nozzles to obtain proper dispersion of spray
• Trains in areas of expertise as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, Monday – Friday. Second shift: 3:00pm – 11:30 pm

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Temperature is varied to the temperature outside due to open doors and garages.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

• Demonstrated skill in sheet metal fabrication of a variety of Olympia products; paint/powder experience preferred [do we want to put x years of experience at OCV?]
• Minimum of a high school education or GED equivalent
• Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, read a tape measure and convert fractions to decimals, with basic geometry skills being a plus
• Must be able to problem solve, manage time, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Great communication and organizational skills and extreme attention to detail and safety
