Summary/Objective
The Shipping Team Lead works directly with the Shipping Manager to help with the planning and execution of Shipping operations for Olympia Chimney & Venting, Inc (OCV), which includes fulfillment of OCV Product to the Copperfield Distribution Centers (DC), as well as overseeing the Freight and Ground for custom and drop ship orders with Olympia Chimney & Venting, Inc and Copperfield.
Essential Functions:
- Daily Team Support:
- Oversee the daily activities of the Shipping Department: assigns tasks and directs projects to make operations move smoothly and efficiently.
- Provide ongoing training for Shipping Specialists.
- Ensure that SOPs accurately reflect processes and are being followed.
- Organize new and existing products to maximize efficiency and accuracy of order processing.
- Proactively verify min/max levels and communicate needs to keep non-inventory levels from OOS.
- Keep a firm record of Freight packing slips and maintain a shipping log of invoices to verify the Packer.
- Safety & Quality:
- Maintain 5s throughout the department to promote a safe and efficient work atmosphere.
- Maintain a quality rating of a minimum 99% accuracy to help ensure our customers’ satisfaction with the products we provide them.
- Ensure that Shipping Specialists are following safe work practices, utilizing required personal protective equipment and practicing good housekeeping habits.
- DC Stock Transfer Process:
- Ensure order accuracy for orders shipped to the DCs to minimize discrepancies on any Purchase Order (PO) for a DC.
- Update PO to correct any discrepancies and close the PO with 100% accuracy for each of the orders received in the DC.
- Ensure the PO and the Manifest match accurately and update the Inventory in Acumatica.
- Miscellaneous Items:
- Cooperate fully with company policies and procedures both verbal and written.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

- Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions
- Bi-lingual Spanish/English a plus
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the Employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Temperatures are varied to the temperature outside due to open doors and garages.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the Employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Certain tasks require standing for an entire shift.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, Flexible schedule required, 40 hours per week.
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of a high school education or GED equivalent
- 3 years’ Shipping experience
- Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, read a tape measure and convert fractions to decimals, with basic geometry skills being a plus
- Ability to solve problems, manage time, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to do all jobs and train all jobs departmentally
- Great communication and organizational skills and extreme attention to detail and safety; bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience training new employees
