Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support in the care and treatment of all equids, ensuring their well-being and comfort. You will work closely with veterinarians and other staff members to deliver high-quality veterinary care in a fast-paced environment. Expertise in horse handling and care will be vital in assisting with various procedures and maintaining a safe and clean environment for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations and other medical and diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Monitor animal health by observing behavior, vital signs, and physical condition.
  • Maintain accurate medical records for each patient.
  • Educate horse owners on proper care practices and post-operative instructions.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the clinic complete with treatment area, stalls for outpatient care and surgical suite.
  • Handle horses safely and effectively to minimize stress during procedures.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of horse anatomy and physiology.
  • Proficient in horse handling techniques to ensure safety for both staff and patients.
  • Ability to perform laboratory tests.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with horse owners and team members.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively in a busy environment.
  • Compassionate attitude towards horses with a commitment to their welfare.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week

  • Veterinary experience: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:
