General Purpose
The Non-Sterile Compounding Technician position is responsible for formula preparation under the direction of a Non- Sterile Supervising Pharmacist .
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
· Accurately weighs and prepares the ingredients according to the designated formula worksheet specifications.
· In accordance with quality assurance guidelines, ensures accurate formula preparation according to the prescription prior to any compound preparation.
· Ensures the pharmacist on duty has signed off and verified the formulation according to the script prior to commencing compound preparation.
· Preparation of compounds according to the formulation while following all applicable and appropriate compounding guidelines and quality standards.
· Prepares various compounds including, but not limited to, suspensions, solutions, creams, ointments, suppositories, capsules, etc. This includes weighing and measuring chemicals in the mixing process.
· Packages and labels the compound in an appropriate dispensing device.
· Ensures the correct beyond use date is noted on the patient product label.
· Presents the completed compound and documentation to designated area for pharmacist verification and sign off.
· Performs daily cleaning responsibilities and logs according to designated policy; inclusive of keeping utilized laboratory components such as glassware clean and in working order, cleaning balances, counters, and other equipment, filling and unloading of the dishwasher.
· Verifies and maintains equipment such as freezer/fridge temperatures and weights on scales at work station each morning.
· Has knowledge and access to all applicable websites such as PCCA.
· Takes on special projects as assigned and other delegated duties
· Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
· Participates in training as necessary.
· Attends company/departmental meetings as well as educational programs as required.
· Verifies all appropriate steps in each compound with the Pharmacist.
· Ensures inventory availability and informs buyer of inventory and product needs.
· Maintain all areas of the cleanroom space are cleaned and properly maintained.
· Ensure cGMP documentation of all required duties
Education and Experience
· High school diploma.
· 1 years of post-high school education desirable.
· 2 years with pharmacy compounding experience.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse customer group
