Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Front Desk Agent to join our team. Our mission is to provide the highest level of compassion for the animals entrusted in our care; to measurably reduce companion animals' overpopulation and to take a leadership role in promoting humane values and education for the benefit of animals.
The front office agent for Olympic Peninsula Humane Society (OPHS) helps provide exemplary customer service to the public adopting, fostering, surrendering or rescuing animals. Additionally, this position processes donations and answers questions the public may have regarding specific animals or general animal welfare queries for which you will be trained. As the point person for the kennel staff, this position helps disseminate information, schedules appointments, keeps all paperwork in order, while maintaining a clean office environment. From time to time the manager may require special project assistance.
While this can be rewarding work being around animals and seeing successful placement into happy homes, there can be, from time to time, emotional aspects of this job such as being exposed to sick or injured animals and/or abuse cases. While the good far exceeds the bad, emotional maturity is required.
Duties
- Greet guests upon arrival with a warm and friendly demeanor
- Answer phones
- Reply to emails and voicemails
- Be the point person to get information about an animal for kennel staff
- Set up appointments for surrenders/adoptions
- Processing animal licenses
- Processing payments
- Cleaning the office daily
Requirements
- Genuine compassion, concern, and respect for animals and people
- Dependable, honest with a strong work ethic
- The ability to stay on task until finished while dealing with phone calls and customer interruptions
- Stellar customer service and organizational skills
- Must be comfortable learning new software programs and be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Able to sit and stand for an extended period
- Must be able to bend, twist, lift and carry items (35 lbs)
- Must be available to work Saturdays
- Must have reliable transportation (public transport does not go to the shelter)
- Must be 18 yrs or older
- Previous office work experience preferred
- Personal and work references required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.66 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
