The Olympic Regional Authority (Olympic Authority) manages and operates a variety of venues located in the Adirondack and Catskill Mountains in New York consisting of: three alpine skiing venues – Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington, Gore Mountain in North Creek, and Belleayre Mountain in Highmount; the Olympic Sports Complex at Mount Van Hoevenberg in the Town of North Elba, a Nordic cross country skiing and biathlon venue and home of the Lake Placid sliding center; the Olympic Jumping Complex in the Town of North Elba; and the Olympic Oval and Olympic Center in the Village of Lake Placid including three indoor ice skating rinks, the Olympic Museum, and the Lake Placid Conference Center.
Job Summary: Join our building maintenance team at Mt Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex as a cleaner. Cleaners play a critical role in the daily operation and presentation of our lodges and buildings. They will also assist our building readiness department in event set up and tear down throughout the year.
Primary Responsibilities include:
· Perform cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and sanitizing all areas of the facility.
· Ensure restrooms are clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
· Set up and break down event spaces according to specific requirements, including arranging tables, chairs, and equipment.
· Assist with maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and notifying supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
· Handle basic maintenance tasks such as painting and minor repairs.
· Ensure all cleaning and set up tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
· Follow safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
· Report damage, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to management.
· Other operations and maintenance duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: Ability to follow instructions, read and follow check lists, manuals and safety instructions, operating procedures, and other documentation is required. The candidate will have verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude and a good work ethic. Valid drivers license is required. Physically capable of climbing ladders and lifting up to 30 lbs.
Wage/Salary:
This position is identified as a Grade 13 on the ORDA/CSEA schedule with an entry rate of $19.96 per hour. The Olympic Authority offers an excellent benefits package that includes paid leave (sick, vacation, and personal time), paid holidays, health, dental, and vision insurance, participation in the NYS and Local Retirement Systems, and participation in NYS Deferred Compensation, as defined under the CSEA contract.
