Key Customers
- Sales team in providing a file which produces a product which matched customer’s expectations
- Production team in providing a file and information which allows the efficient production of a customer acceptable product.
- External customers by creating a quality file where it maintains the customer intent
Key Accountabilities
- Determine appropriate software in which to open a customer file (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Quickly visualize if customer file will work (Pre-flight) to optimize lead time
- Maximize relationship with sales force to promptly address discrepancies or issues with customer art or information
- Work with production team to produce first run and follow prints which maximize efficiency (numbers up, orientation, etc.)
- Able to process files through a RIP software (ex. Caldera) and understand its uses to maximize efficiency.
- Create mock ups which vet feasibility of customer requests
- Prepare vision and description of how product will look in field prior to completion (set-up file)
- Flexibility for some possible weekend coverage.
Key Challenges
- Ever shorter lead times to produce product to increasing quality demands
- Limited or cryptic information from customer and/or sales team
- Ability to deal with large files
- Multi-platform systems ( Mac – art, PC – job notes) to meet varying needs of customer
- Color correcting standards and actions; determining best color depend on where viewed and demands of customer (Addressing metamerism through supply chain)
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process digital files for print production
- Review and troubleshoot files for potential issues
- Ensure that all files meet quality standards and are print-ready
- Collaborate with designers and production staff to ensure that all projects are completed on time
- Maintain and troubleshoot prepress equipment
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in prepress technology
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in prepress operations
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Knowledge of prepress equipment and software, including RIP software and imposition software
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and efficiently
