What are the responsibilities and job description for the Airfield Maintenance Worker - 3:30pm to Midnight Shift position at Omaha Airport Authority?
This position encompasses a wide variety of maintenance and labor-intensive activities at both Eppley Airfield and Millard Airport. The individual is required to work both independently and as part of a team, with emphasis on judicial use of time, thoroughness, ability to adapt to a wide variety of work skills, and an awareness of airfield operations. While much of the work takes place outdoors during all weather conditions, some assigned tasks are indoors assisting other departments. The employee is often required to make independent decisions regarding the progress of work in completing assigned tasks.
The position requires 40 hours per week, overtime is often required to perform snow removal and other tasks.
This is a non-exempt position in the Facilities Maintenance Department. The Field Maintenance Worker reports to the Field Maintenance Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Operate a wide variety of heavy and off-road equipment, including but not limited to snowplows, brooms and blowers, dump truck, high reach, forklift, road grader, and farm-type tractors and mowers.
Operate equipment and perform labor in the repair of asphalt and concrete pavements, crack sealing, storm and sanitary sewer system maintenance, painting and striping of pavement, etc.
Maintain and repair machinery and vehicles, including heavy equipment.
Perform building interior and exterior painting.
Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks, including but not limited to trash pickup, land clearing, fence repair, sweeping, etc.
Perform electrical repairs and maintenance of airport lighting and other equipment.
Operate radio equipment and communicate with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) personnel on airfield activities.
Perform air operations area safety escorting duties.
Respond in emergency situations, as requested.
Perform general repairs to building exteriors, including jetway/boarding bridge maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Employment is contingent on successful completion of pre-employment physical with negative drug screen results and ability to obtain an Omaha Airport Authority security badge.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
High school diploma or GED certificate with ability to read and write.
Must obtain a valid Nebraska or Iowa commercial driver's license (CDL) prior to completion of qualification period. The CDL holders are required under Federal law to participate in a random drug and alcohol testing program required under federal law.
Physical requirements would be lifting (up to 50 pounds or more) use of power tools/equipment, operating large snow removal and construction equipment, possible long periods of standing or sitting.
Ability to read and understand task procedures and instructional information regarding the proper operation of equipment and machinery.
