What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Analyst position at Omaha Airport Authority?
Summary:
This role will be responsible for business strategy, financial forecasting, business analysis, and administrative project management. This dynamic position will also assist in the new strategic and business initiatives related to profitable and sustainable business performance. Must have excellent analytical, project leadership, presentation and communications skills. This exempt position will be on site reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer in the OAA Administration department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Business Strategy, Financial Forecasting, Cash and Investments
Financial Forecast Model: Maintain long-term pro forma forecast (i.e., 3-7 year forward looking) of Authority’s financial results, including airline rates and charges, providing insights on Authority’s bond issuance plans and financial capacity to fund the capital improvement program, and other strategic and financial issues.
Budgeting: Assist in preparation of annual budget and establishment of airline rates, charges, and fees for all tenant agreements; periodic revenue budget forecasting, and other special financial analysis.
Revenue bond issues: Work jointly with Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in coordinating, planning, and sale of Revenue Bonds with bond team including relationships with Authority’s fiscal advisors, bond counsel, underwriters, airport financial consultant, bond trustee, and revenue bond rating agencies. Assist in monitoring compliance with bond requirements and conditions after bond sale.
Cash and Investments: Assist in managing cash and investments including investment activity and laddering of investments by the Authority and as reported by bond trustee for restricted bond funds. Assist in reviewing and preparing monthly bank reconciliations of bond, cash and investment accounts.
Business Analysis and Balanced Score Card (BSC)
BSC: Lead development of Authority BSC data and reporting including insights into key performance indicators (KPIs) including metrics that are financial (e.g., revenue, expense, cost per enplaned passenger, debt service coverage ratio) and non-financial (e.g., operational, air service, or customer service focused). Works with Executive Staff on development of strategic objectives, tactical initiatives, and performance metrics. Works with leadership team on reporting Balanced Scorecard data and performance and in preparing presentation materials.
Parking: Review monthly revenue, expense, and contractor statements related to Authority’s largest revenue source. Develop and manage metrics and dashboards related to revenue, expenses, customer satisfaction, transactions, and other parking KPIs.
Special projects / Business and Administrative Project Lead
Lead in implementation of business efficiency through analysis, process review, and system implementation (e.g., payroll, human resources information system (HRIS), enterprise resource planning (ERP))
Serve as a member of the Terminal Modernization Program (TMP), assisting on financial forecasting related to bonds and monthly expenditures.
Coordinate the Customer Service Representative (CSR) program.
Assist in other business development initiatives.
Design, manage, and/or perform qualitative and quantitative analyses – including developing complex and accurate financial models – focused on deriving insights on a variety of strategic and financial issues and providing recommendations on such.
Assist with review of the other office work product for accuracy and provide functional redundancy.
Perform other duties or special projects assigned by the Executive Staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, aviation, or law and minimum 5-years of relevant experience, preferably in airport and / or property management related field.
Strong leadership, communications, organizational, and management skills. Ability to solve problems and work both independently and efficiently with others. Ability to mentor and develop others.
Excellent organizational skills to manage time effectively, establish priorities and complete projects in a timely fashion.
Experience working with computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Windows operating systems in conjunction with various internal software and ERP systems.
Presents technical information and concepts clearly, convincingly, and effectively both orally and in writing to diverse groups of airline executives, local community, business organizations, and internal recipients.
