What are the responsibilities and job description for the Firefighter/EMT position at Omaha Airport Authority?
Omaha Eppley Airfield (OMA) is a medium-hub airport that served more than 5 million passengers in 2019 and is the largest airport in the State of Nebraska. Seven airlines provided approximately 75 departures per day to 34 nonstop destinations from Eppley. Established in 1969, the Omaha Airport Authority (OAA) is a 24/7 operation. Knowledge of the principles practices and procedures of aircraft firefighting and rescue is required.
Candidate must be certified Fire Fighter I, Fire Fighter II, Airport Firefighter, and Hazardous Materials Operations through an accredited agency such as IFSAC or Pro Board. Must be Nebraska Certified Emergency Medical Technician or able to obtain Nebraska certification status within the first year. The OAA will provide 40 hour Airport Firefighter Certification Course for candidates that are selected and do not currently have that certification. Applicant must successfully complete this course prior to preforming Airport Rescue Firefighter duties. The candidate must also meet physical fitness requirements, pass prescribed physical examinations and background check.
