FLSA Status : Non-exempt
Hours : Part-time, permanent, 30 hours per week (Wednesday - Sunday)
Reports to : Manager of Volunteer Services

Job Description :
The Volunteer Services Assistant supports the Zoo's mission by performing a variety of administrative, operational, and logistical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the Zoo and Wildlife Safari Park volunteer programs. This Assistant supports all aspects of our volunteer program, which engages volunteers who are passionate about conservation through meaningful experiences. The Assistant reports directly to the Manager of Volunteer Services.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to) :
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where volunteers feel valued and engaged.
- Basic administrative tasks : creating and updating documents, compile information, answering phone calls and providing basic program information or directing to appropriate staff, mail management, electronic document handling, calendar management, and office supply management.
- Work closely with the Manager of Volunteer Services to engage volunteers through the entirety of the volunteer cycle : recruitment, interview, selection, onboarding, training, recognition and appreciation.
- Responsible for assisting staff or volunteers with issues in relation to the volunteer program.
- Become proficient in the software used for volunteer management.
- Prepare bi-weekly electronic volunteer newsletter.
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Volunteer Services.
