Job Title: Afterschool Site Coordinator
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hours: Full-time
Starting wage $18.15 per hour
Summary:
Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking an Afterschool Site Coordinator to assist with the running and maintaining of afterschool programs for children age's five to 12. Afterschool programs are all year accommodating students' needs for both the academic school year and summer camp. The position is grant funded and runs August 1 to July 31 annually. The position is required to attend education staff meetings, professional development, and planning sessions, submitting grant reports, and scheduling employees. This position is grant funded and reports directly to the Education Program Manager of Classes.
Responsibilities and Duties (include but not limited to):
- Afterschool Coordinator meets weekly with Education Program Manager of Classes and school administration.
- Work with various ages of children and adults and shows an enthusiasm for science-based education.\
- Responsible for planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of core service areas.
- Provide age appropriate and open gender programs and activities centered around STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education.
- Ensure that cultural diversity and educational programs are implemented.
- Provide leadership and supervision to program and volunteer staff.
- Establish and retain rapport with local community agencies.
- Introduce new programs to members and foster a learning environment.
- Work with the afterschool coordinator to design and implement theme based curriculum.
- Will follow all DHHS licensing requirements.
- Responsibilities include the facilitation of interactive programs such as experiments, games, crafts and other hands-on activities.
- Responsible for afterschool preparation and clean-up.
- Responsible for the check in and checkout of students daily.
- Daily communication with parents through daily written reports.
- Responsible for submitting afterschool program reports, maintaining state license requirements and meet grant contract agreement.
- Schedules and evaluates afterschool part time staff.
- Assists with setting up and running STEM competitions.
- Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of program records.
- Conduct observations and mentoring opportunities for staff.
- Evaluates and implements continuous professional growth opportunities for staff.
Education:
- Two-year college degree or equivalent expertise from an accredited college in related area/areas of youth development required (teaching, coaching, camp counselor, tutor, mentor, etc.).
- Teaching Certificate, working toward certificate, or in related areas of youth development.
Experience:

Teaching certificate or be within one year of completing student teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 20 years old
- Bilingual skills encouraged.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must be able to work flexible schedule.
- Valid state driver's license is required.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and a tuberculosis test.
