SUMMARY: The Valentine Parker Jr Youth Prevention Center is seeking highly motivated, self-directed individuals to join our summer camp program as Camp Counselors. These candidates will help design, deliver, and supervise summer camp programs and activities. The days are filled with teaching, coordinating, carrying out, and supervising activities and guiding youth campers in personal growth. The candidates will manage groups of campers, maintain daily records of campers and programs, and assist with supervising activities during summer camp hours, including days, nights, and weekends. We seek candidates who will serve as positive role models by demonstrating positive, healthy behaviors. Candidates must be willing and able to work day, night and weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist in developing, organizing, and supervising summer camp activities and youth campers in order to meet the intended camper outcomes and program goals and objectives.
- Maintain daily records of youth campers and camp programs.
- Actively manage and engage oneself with campers during camp activities and field trips
- Explain and fairly and consistently enforce facility, equipment, and program rules.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
- Represent the camp in interactions within the community and on field trips.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with campers, co-workers, and parents.
- Assist with the maintenance, upkeep, and storage of program equipment and supplies
- Administer emergency first aid or refer injured persons to physicians, as needed
- Perform daily housekeeping duties, ensuring clean and sanitary facilities
- Maintain regular and punctual working hours.
- Perform daily assignments with limited access and usage of one's personal cell phone
- Able to work, play, and interact with youth (K-12th grade) in gym, activity, and pool settings
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience working with children or summer camp is preferred
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid driver's license and eligible for tribal insurance
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
