Job Summary
As a Medical Assistant at Central Florida Eye Clinic, our growing ophthalmology practice, you will help to deliver high-quality patient care and administrative support to our team. Reporting to the physician, you will develop and use proficiency in medical terminology, electronic health record systems, and diagnostic testing. *Bilingual* communication skills, specifically in Spanish, are a must. Qualifications include multi-tasking, customer service experience, attention to detail, time management, punctuality, responsibility, and dependability. Must travel to our second location for full-time hours, with advance notice of days, so *reliable transportation* is a must. You will also learn to assist the front desk/reception IF NEEDED. Starting pay will be based on experience and qualifications. Great opportunity for growth and a flexible schedule with no weekends!
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check in and greet patients with a smile when calling them back from reception
- Navigate the fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency and communicate with medical staff to ensure flow and enhance patient experience
- Enter patient medications and prior medical history into EMR
- Obtain patient’s reason for visit, complete ocular and medical history including vitals, check vision, and prepare patient for examination
- Report patient history summary to doctor
- Perform accurate vision and diagnostic tests
- Document patient’s exam, assessment and plan including follow up care in EMR as directed by physician and assist physician during examinations
- Maintain accurate patient records
- Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients
- Assist with scanning documents into chart and faxing communications
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy laws and safety guidelines
- Maintain supplies inventory
- Complete daily office opening and closing process.
- Cross-training to cover front desk includes: calling patients and answering phone calls, entering referrals, scheduling appointments, and handling payments
