ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides administrative assistance to the Permit Specialist.
  • Works with all levels of government agencies in order to secure transportation permits.
  • Inputs and manages data on transportation software.
  • Interacts with and provides permitting assistance to corporate dispatch offices.
  • Acts as liaison between the permitting division and corporate office.
  • Coordinates and completes projects in absence of Permitting Specialist.

JOB DUTIES

Permitting :

  • Uses mapping software to correctly identify routing and all jurisdictions involved.
  • Prepares and submits city, county and state applications.
  • Office Support :

  • Assists with identifying and contacting local and state agencies, DOT construction managers and project supervisors.
  • Maintains filing system and permit books.
  • Distributes incoming correspondence, approvals and permits.
  • Other Duties :

  • Meets deadlines and follows up with little direction.
  • Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customer / coworkers and including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Respectfully takes direction from Manager
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    COMPUTER SKILLS

    Has advanced basic computer job skills including logging on to systems such as Microsoft Office, AutoCad and LoadX, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information, create presentations, download forms, and preserve / backup important data.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    This position does not require certificates, licenses or registrations.
