Description
A Mixer Machine Operators is responsible for the setting up, operating, and tending to machines that mix or blend materials, such as plastics pellets, chemicals, color pigments, or other ingredients. They also weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure conformance to quality and quantity specifications. Manufacturing plant runs 24/7. This position works 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, M-F.
Requirements
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Selects and retrieves raw materials.
· Reads and interprets mixing process orders, understanding raw material requirements. .
· Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, and products to ensure conformance to requirements.
· Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or with hands, in order to ensure conformance to established standards.
· Adds raw materials to mixing equipment in accordance with process order instructions.
· Collect samples of materials or products for laboratory testing
· Clean and maintain equipment, using hand tools.
· Observe production or monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
· Inspect equipment, structures, or material to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
· Understands concepts of material flow through pumps, pipes, vacuum/pressure transfer and ventilation Identifies housekeeping infractions and takes actions to resolve.
· Ensure correct pigments and powders are in mixers and are being used for parts produced.
· Maintain check on inventory of materials and supplies used in production and report shortages.
· Transfer materials, supplies, and products between work areas, using moving equipment and hand tools.
· Unload mixtures into containers or onto conveyors for further processing.
· All other tasks as assigned.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
· Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
· Certified in operation of fork-lifts (recommended but not required)
· Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills.
· Able to understand and perform basic math.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of process order documentation.
EDUCATION
· High school diploma or GED certificate required.
· Additional education and/or 3-5 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to endure working in a manufacturing environment with inside excessive hot and cold temperatures, able to tolerate exposure to dust and noise for 12-hour shifts.
- Prolonged sitting and/or standing on concrete floors; Frequent walking; Occasional bending and squatting.
- Frequent reaching; Repetitive use of wrist, hands and fingers.
