Responsibilities :

  • Innovate and initiate new, creative ideas to increase plant efficiency, performance and reliability
  • Developing plant improvement modifications / projects
  • Support all onsite Digital Control Systems that interface between operational staff and process equipment.
  • Ensure process control systems are current and effective and sustained for operational stability.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting programmable electronic systems (DCSs and PLC Systems).
  • Programming of the onsite DeltaV and Control Logics process control software.
  • Maintain uncompromised backups and backup support of all process control software and coding to safeguard process and operations at all times.
  • Support the optimization of existing assets, addressing instrumentation and process control system obsolescence issues
  • Be a subject matter expert who assists with process control deliverables for capital projects.
  • Work closely with project engineers on process control philosophies and Management of Change (MOC) for new capital projects
  • Direct 3rd party support for contracted process control programming of capital projects.
  • Maintain all offsite technical support functions for controls that is required to ensure operational stability.
  • Maintain awareness of the latest technology in the industry and motivate to upgrade as needed, to improve equipment performance, reliability, and throughput.
  • Writes periodic reports or oral presentations on specific process control-related issues.
  • Recommend and implement modifications to existing process control equipment.
  • Participate and comply with facility and PSM change management process.
  • Troubleshooting operational needs for the plant; everything from Process Instrumentation, to DCS and PLC control logic, to Operator Control Stations.
  • Work with Instrumentation and maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and maintain plant automation control systems and software.
  • Review Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) classification / design to ensure compliance with corporate and Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
  • Develop appropriate plant / process monitoring and optimization systems and perform Equipment Performance Evaluations.
  • Provide process engineering assistance / support to the Operations Team as required.

  • Process Optimization : optimize production processes through improved instrumentation and automation.
  • Support maintenance outages for routine PM tasks, productivity modifications or obsolete equipment upgrades.
  • Troubleshoot and configure control communication networks.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. Will consider AS with extensive experience
  • 5 years of experience in process automation systems and process instrumentation experience in Chemical, Oil & Gas or Petrochemical
  • Preference for experience with Delta V.
  • Skilled in base layer control and instrumentation (HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Distributed Control Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of process control systems, including DCS, PLC, and SCADA Hands-on knowledge of automation systems, control panels, and field instrumentation
  • Knowledgeable of process control fundamentals, including PID control loops, field instrumentation, and process optimization techniques
  • Completing Management of Change (MOC) process documentation.
  • Available to assist process after hours on scheduled callout support via remote linked in networking
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and Emerson AMS Device Manager is a plus.
  • Professional Training / Certifications i.e. Professional Engineering (PE) license, Six Sigma or ISA certification is a plus.
  • Advanced education is a plus
