What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fish Bailer position at Omega Protein Corporation?
The Bailer will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing the specific duties below:
· Pull chains or operate bailing rigs to move bailing hoses into place from plant to pump hook up on vessel
· Use long pole to reach overhead to lock into place
· Spray high pressure water hose to “push” fish down from hold on vessel pump for processing
· Use meter to determine if there are any toxins present
· Climb down 15 rung vertical ladder into fish hold to spray fish into pump. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to discharge a full hold of fish. Temperature in the hold averages 45 to 50 degrees. (Only as required by h2’s program)
· Unhook pump for vessel using chain pulls attached to a cable
· Hoses down the main deck with a 3ft hose estimated pressure is 75lbs
· Wash down scale and pump area
· Maintain cleanliness of work area
· Completes all tasks safely
· Report all hazards, accidents, injuries, or environmental excursions to your supervisor or a member of the management team immediately
· All other duties as assigned
Minimum requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
· Experience in food or fish processing or manufacturing helpful
· Excellent work ethic
· Ability to work overtime, weekend, and rotating shifts as required
· Able to pass H2S Requirements
· All new hires must clear post offer drug screen, physical & background check
