Position Overview
OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. FastenMaster® is OMG’s brand of task specific contractor quality fasteners engineered to enable Professional Contractors and serious DIY’ers to complete projects efficiently. Key to the success of this business division is the loyalty and growth of our customers. The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for driving sales of FM products at Menards, Co-ops (Ace Hardware, True Value, Do it Best) by developing and maintaining the right product mix, communicating effectively with Buying teams and working closely with FM Product, Marketing and Operations teams. Reporting to the Director of Key Accounts, the Key Account Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the annual Business Plan, including sales growth targets, margin performance, and new product placement.
Position Responsibilities
- Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
- Drive sales growth strategies at Co-ops (Ace Hardware, Do it Best & True Value), Menards and Private Label customers to achieve profitability and market share goals.
- Develop in-aisle, online and cross merchandising strategies that increase product awareness and improve overall shelf presentation.
- Monitor weekly sales, communicating performance trends and issues to appropriate FM Sales, Marketing and Operation resources.
- Develop and nurture strong customer contacts, lines of communication and positive, proactive relationships with all key personnel at the corporate and field management level.
- Develop and implement monthly account visit schedule and action plans that deliver results supporting the FM Strategic Plan.
- Work with field sales teams to identify and manage the opportunities and issues that impact the account.
- Work closely with the Sales and Marketing management teams and Business Unit leads to drive performance metrics and build brand value.
- Maintain and demonstrate a solid understanding of the technical aspects of target applications and the FM product line.
- Understand competitor products and markets served, using this knowledge to promote favorable comparisons with FM products.
- Communicate effectively with the Operations team regarding product demand forecast and the fulfillment process, guaranteeing stock-on-hand needs are met and replenishment is timely.
- Serve as resource for R&D, NPDI and Supply teams on product development and distribution issues.
- Exercise strong and consistent decision-making relative to account issues. Perform other tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree or equivalent.
- 5 years Sales and/or Account Management experience (Co-op & Menards experience preferred).
- Working knowledge of “big box” retail philosophies and sales practices required.
- Success in analyzing key account performance data in order to strengthen sales strategies and implementation.
- Ability to effectively understand and explain all products and services.
- Excellent problem solving, negotiation and project management skills.
- Ability to adapt and overcome ever-changing market conditions.
- Ability to adapt to and follow differing procedures established by customers.
- Ability to act in a professional manner with employees and customers.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive attitude and good judgement.
- Strong presentation and delivery skills.
- Strong PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
- Ability to travel extensively to meet customer demands.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving history and ability to safely operate vehicles in the course of business travel.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Good close vision and depth perception skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle while maintaining focus on safe driving and avoiding all distractions when behind the wheel, especially cell phones.
Must be able to complete all essential job functions listed in the position responsibilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
