Sr. Network Engineer (Onsite - Plano,TX)


We are looking to hire a candidate with the skill sets mentioned and experience for one of our clients within the Oil and Gas industry. This is a Onsiterole. It is a Long Termcontract.

The role will primarily be performed in an office setting, though occasional travel to district and field offices, may be required.

Job Summary:


The Network Administrator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of network infrastructure, including configuration, implementation, and troubleshooting. This role provides support for users, the Help Desk, and System teams, serving as the escalation point for infrastructure-related issues. The Network Administrator also manages enterprise network security operations and supports both wired and wireless connectivity.

  • Implement network design and security requirements based on business strategies and requirements. Meets with the stakeholders to gather data about the business needs of a project.
  • Work with the Sr. Network Engineer developing requirements for LAN, WAN, VPN, Wireless, routers, switches, firewalls, and related security and network devices.
  • Implement network technologies meeting best practices in security and network design. Configure, install and troubleshoot new and existing infrastructure to support the enterprise. Escalate technical troubleshooting issues.?
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Update job knowledge by tracking and understanding emerging security practices and standards, participating in educational opportunities, reading profession

Preferred/Required Skills & Experience:

  • CCNA, CCNP (preferred)
  • 5 years of hands-on network engineering experience in medium to large organizations (1000 employees across large geographic areas)
  • Experience supporting network infrastructure, including complex routed IP networks, layer 2/3 switches, routers, firewalls, LAN/WAN hardware, and protocols
  • Strong knowledge of IP data networking with practical network troubleshooting experience
  • Experience supporting multi-site data and VOIP in an SDWAN/IWAN environment
  • Expertise in IP LAN/WAN principles
  • Proven experience with voice/data circuits and VPN connectivity
  • Familiarity with video conferencing, wireless technologies, Datacenter technology, Cisco Nexus switches, VMware Virtualization, and network storage protocols
  • Working knowledge of routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF
  • Experience with packet capture and analysis
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload with attention to detail and deadlines
  • Availability for after-hours support and on-call rotation as needed
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team
  • Independent, results-driven, with the ability to align and collaborate across functions and levels
  • Experience with diverse carrier circuits such as MPLS, DIA, T1, broadband, satellite, and cellular circuits
  • Should have experience with Cisco Catalyst Switches (9500, 4500, 3850, 3750) for campus LAN; Nexus 5K and 9K for core switching and SAN connectivity
  • Devices supporting SDWAN infrastructure and configurations is must
  • Experience with S2S VPN and remote user connectivity through AnyConnect
  • Experience with Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto firewalls, IPS, and Security Intelligence
  • Support for security technologies like Dot1x, Cisco ISE, Tacacs, Umbrella/OpenDNS, Carbon Black for endpoints, and SumoLogic is must
  • Experience with cabling and device installation
  • Aruba wireless (preferred)
  • Monitoring tools such as Solarwinds NPM, SAM, IPAM, NCM, and LEM
