Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain thick-client applications for space systems, ensuring a focus on performance, scalability, and integration with mission-critical components.
- Design and implement intuitive user interfaces that interact seamlessly with complex back-end systems, considering user needs and system requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to create integrated solutions, ensuring applications meet technical performance standards and operational requirements.
- Use modern client-side frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js to build maintainable, high-performance user interfaces.
- Explore and determine the best data integration approaches for the front-end, collaborating with back-end teams to define the best architecture, without being restricted to specific technologies like RESTful APIs.
- Focus on ensuring the front-end applications are optimized for performance and security, particularly in resource-intensive environments.
- Work closely with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration of data and system functionality into the user interface.
- Document design decisions, front-end architecture, and system modifications for future development and team collaboration.
- Stay current with emerging web technologies and trends, particularly related to front-end development in the space industry, to improve processes and systems over time.
- US Citizenship required
- Security Clearance: Not required initially, but candidates must be willing to undergo a US Government security clearance process.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Aerospace, or a related field.
- Experience: 4 years of hands-on front-end development, particularly with thick-client applications in complex, mission-critical systems.
- While experience with astroux standards or similar frameworks is beneficial, it is not required. A strong understanding of front-end technologies is essential.
- Proven proficiency with JavaScript and client-side frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and optimization techniques for high-performance applications.
- Experience in data integration with back-end systems, with an adaptable approach depending on the application needs.
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on system performance and responsiveness.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 6 years of front-end development experience, ideally within aerospace or space-related industries.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems like Git.
- Experience in data visualization and real-time updates for mission-related systems.
- Knowledge of cloud deployment frameworks and services (AWS, Azure, etc.), especially for space applications.
- Previous experience working with astronomical instrumentation or other space-based technologies.
- Strong focus on user experience (UX) for technical or scientific applications.
