Omitron Inc.
Colorado, CO Full Time
POSTED ON 1/26/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/23/2025
Omitron is seeking an experienced Mid-to-Senior Level Front-End Developer with expertise in developing thick-client applications and a strong background in working with complex systems to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. While experience with astro ux standards or similar space-related frameworks is beneficial, it is not required. The ideal candidate will bring experience in building high-performance, scalable user interfaces for aerospace or mission-critical applications. This role will focus on thick-client development, with potential for future web-based solutions as the system evolves.

As part of the SOLACE program in Colorado Springs, you will work closely with engineers and scientists to create front-end applications that support space-related mission systems, ensuring seamless integration, performance, and user experience. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop cutting-edge solutions for space exploration and aerospace technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain thick-client applications for space systems, ensuring a focus on performance, scalability, and integration with mission-critical components.
  • Design and implement intuitive user interfaces that interact seamlessly with complex back-end systems, considering user needs and system requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists to create integrated solutions, ensuring applications meet technical performance standards and operational requirements.
  • Use modern client-side frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js to build maintainable, high-performance user interfaces.
  • Explore and determine the best data integration approaches for the front-end, collaborating with back-end teams to define the best architecture, without being restricted to specific technologies like RESTful APIs.
  • Focus on ensuring the front-end applications are optimized for performance and security, particularly in resource-intensive environments.
  • Work closely with back-end developers to ensure seamless integration of data and system functionality into the user interface.
  • Document design decisions, front-end architecture, and system modifications for future development and team collaboration.
  • Stay current with emerging web technologies and trends, particularly related to front-end development in the space industry, to improve processes and systems over time.

Minimum Requirements:

  • US Citizenship required
  • Security Clearance: Not required initially, but candidates must be willing to undergo a US Government security clearance process.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Aerospace, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4 years of hands-on front-end development, particularly with thick-client applications in complex, mission-critical systems.
  • While experience with astroux standards or similar frameworks is beneficial, it is not required. A strong understanding of front-end technologies is essential.
  • Proven proficiency with JavaScript and client-side frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and optimization techniques for high-performance applications.
  • Experience in data integration with back-end systems, with an adaptable approach depending on the application needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills, with a focus on system performance and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 6 years of front-end development experience, ideally within aerospace or space-related industries.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control systems like Git.
  • Experience in data visualization and real-time updates for mission-related systems.
  • Knowledge of cloud deployment frameworks and services (AWS, Azure, etc.), especially for space applications.
  • Previous experience working with astronomical instrumentation or other space-based technologies.
  • Strong focus on user experience (UX) for technical or scientific applications.
