Description
Position Summary: An aerospace engineering manager is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of aerospace engineers, managing the technical design and development of aerospace projects, ensuring that projects meet deadlines and budgets, coordinating with various stakeholders, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
Tasks and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Providing technical guidance and expertise on complex aerospace engineering designs and analyses.
• Reviewing and approving technical documentation such as design reports, and drawings
• Identifying and implementing new technologies to improve product performance.
• Daily interaction with all internal stakeholders (i.e. customer service quality, engineers, finance, etc) to ensure organizational goals and objective are met
• Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for aerospace projects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, customer service, manufacturing teams, and quality control to understand customer requirements. Works closely with Operations and Quality on troubleshooting and process improvements to include root cause corrective action plans, program optimization and planning improvement
• Monitoring project progress and addressing any technical challenges or roadblocks.
• Leading and motivating a team of engineers and IT professionals
• Assigning tasks, delegating responsibilities, and providing performance feedback.
• Communicate project progress to senior management, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations related to aerospace design and manufacturing.
• Provides technical direction, input and assistance in CNC programs using CATIA, with MasterCam and NX software a plus
• Establishes and maintains CNC programming standard work documentation to include standard cutter lists for all CNC machines
• Conducts reviews and verification of completed CNC programs for quality and adherence to standard practices using Vericut
• Provides technical direction, input and assistance in Manufacturing Engineering and Planning tasks using JobBOSS, CATIA, or NX software to include specification interpretation, drafting execution and process flow analysis
• Reviews, approves, and optimizes tooling designs and fixturing for machining and assembly
• Modification of post processing software
• Leads, trains, and grows capability of CNC Programmers, Manufacturing Engineers, Planners and Drafters
• Develops and monitors KPI’s for each work group supervised
• Participates in the strategic planning for the organization at a senior leadership level, including budgeting, technology deployment and overall growth and evolution
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering (strong understanding of aerospace engineering principles and design methodologies) or 10 years of related aerospace machining and engineering experience
• Programming Experience in CATIA with additional experience in MasterCam and NX strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of machine tool kinematics
• Experience modifying post processing software
• Strong understanding of material properties and how they influence the machining process
• Familiarity with Aerospace Assembly processes and requirements
• Exposure to and familiarity with Aerospace Quality processes and common tools, include Root Cause and Corrective Action, Digital Product Definition requirements and Inspection planning
• Strong understanding for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
• Demonstrated experience in process optimization and documentation
• Familiarity with JobBOSS or comparable MRP/ERP system
• Excellent leadership and team building abilities
• Effective communication and presentation skills
• Ability to analyze complex technical data and make informed decisions
• Proven project management skills
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and standards
