Title: Immunization Coordinator
Job Summary: The Immunization Coordinator has the responsibility to coordinate and direct the immunization program consistent with Advisory Council on Immunization Practices (ACIP), Centers of Disease Control (CD), and the Vaccines for Children Program (VFC) under the direction of the Director of Nursing and/or Chief Medical Officer. The Immunization Coordinator is responsible for all vaccine management activities, including training of all clinical staff at the time hire and as determined by the organization’s competency program. This position requires independent judgment and discretionary decision making. Also requires special training, education and certification as outlined below.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate immunization services in accordance with ACIP, CDC, Omni Family Health, and VFC protocols and procedures.
- Assure that Vaccines for Children requirements are in compliance.
- Perform immunization audits and assure that the medical team is in compliance with policies, procedures and program requirements.
- Communicate with all medical providers individually in a timely manner, to assure that patients receive complete services in accordance with ACIP and VFC guidelines.
- Train newly hired clinical staff in accordance with policies, procedures, and protocols established by the Omni Family Health.
- Keep clinical staff updated with immunization requirements to comply with VFC requirements.
- Collects and assesses report data for Quality Improvement. Assist in initiating and keeping VFC recertification’s up-to-date.
- Coordinates and ensures continual compliance with Joint Commission requirements.
- Has oversight of ordering, receiving and storing of vaccines for all centers of Omni Family Health.
- Monitors refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
- Perform traditional back office/nursing duties as needed.
- Assist in planning and implementing immunization quality improvement programs, guidelines and protocols.
- Participate in community functions as appropriate.
- Train and ensure competency of the Medical Assistants.
- HIPAA compliance - Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all H.I.P.A.A. regulations and requirements. Treats all member information confidential.
- Compliance - Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
- QA/QI - Participate in QA/QI activities and contribute towards the overall performance improvement of the organization.
- IT - Required to learn and use the EHR/EOHR (Medical Practice Electronic System) and its components. As required by the job functions and highlighted in the Policies and Procedures. These components include NextGen, Healthport, PMS, QSI and other electronic features, as they are developed and implemented, as applicable to work environment.
- Assume other responsibilities as required.
- Ensures the department provides cohesive support to the mission, vision, and core values while delivering superior customer service.
- Work closely with all corporate branches, divisions, and/or departments in accordance with Omni’s policies and procedures.
- Other duties and/or responsibilities as the (CI) may assign from time to time.
- Some travel may be required.

- Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Compliance: Responsible for maintaining abreast of and in compliance with all HIPAA regulations and requirements.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience:
- Graduate from an approved nursing program with degree, being associate degree or equivalent.
- California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor’s degree in an area of Health with five consecutive years of experience in Federally Qualified Health Center, Federally Qualified Health Center Look Alike, or Rural Health Care.

- Patient Centered Medical Home
- Preventative Care Guidelines
- Pediatrics
- Public Health
- Must be aggressive in implementing immunization programs within the ACIP and VFC guidelines.
- Must be sensitive to the needs of the patients in a community health care setting, in the areas of health and social services as one component.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary approach preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of immunization practices.
- Must have current CPR card.
- Must be willing to work at any Omni Family Health location and be amenable to work weekends, if so needed.
