Permit Coordinator
As a Permit Coordinator at Omni Fiber, you will play a crucial role in acquiring and managing the permits necessary for a variety of construction projects. You will navigate the complex regulatory environment to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This position requires someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate with multiple stakeholders to drive projects forward. This is a full-time, primarily remote opportunity at Omni Fiber. You will be expected to travel a few times a month.
What You Will Do:
- Research, prepare, and submit permit applications for construction projects, including building, zoning, environmental permits, and other required approvals.
- Stay updated on evolving regulations and codes to ensure all projects comply throughout the permitting process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, architects, engineers, project managers, and internal teams regarding permit status and requirements.
- Review permit applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of permit applications, approvals, denials, and related correspondence.
- Track and organize permit-related documents to facilitate project management and reporting.
- Proactively identify obstacles to permit approval and work to resolve issues or delays. Collaborate with stakeholders to expedite the permitting process.
- Assist with the team's calendar, manage scheduling, and ensure deadlines are met.
- Provide training and guidance to project teams on permit processes and compliance best practices.
- Foster a culture of compliance and efficiency across the organization.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of recent experience in construction permitting, zoning, or regulatory compliance, with a strong understanding of local, state, and federal building codes, zoning ordinances, and environmental regulations.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Must have experience working with TEXDOT and/or Texas Building departments.
- Must be able to travel to Brownsville, TX a few times a month.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and permit management software.
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to anticipate and address challenges.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage time effectively.
- Strong time management skills, with an ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-sufficient, adaptable, and eager to learn new systems and procedures.
- Collaborative and personable, with a strong desire to assist others and be part of a team.
