Job Description

No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the hotel.  The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager.  The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.

Position:          Mechanic (Cascades - Golf Maintenance)

Department:   Golf Maintenance

Purpose:          The Golf Course Mechanic inspects, adjusts, diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects of all equipment assigned to the department. Duties include sharpening and height adjustments of all cutting units, general overhaul and maintenance of motors/small engines, prepares requisitions and orders parts/supplies required to perform such repairs. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, possess effective computer skills and will complete assignments efficiently.

Reports to:      Golf Course Superintendent & Assistant Superintendent

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:   

• Diagnoses, tests, adjusts, and repairs mechanical systems of gas, electric and diesel powered engines and equipment, such as golf specific mowers, utility vehicles, tractors, tillers, sod cutters, blowers, string trimmers, compressors, chain saws, etc.
• Maintains a neat and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts, such as water pump, fuel pump, steering components, hydraulic systems, brakes, exhaust system, cooling system, carburetor, thermostat, gears, solenoid, pistons, valves, crankshaft, PTO (power take off) systems, differentials, and transmission.
• Installs batteries and tires. Performs grinding and sharpening of blades. Performs preventative maintenance: change oil and filters, grease, and lubricate moving parts.
• Maintains inventory of parts and prepares quotes for purchase requisition approval process. Maintains records of repairs and preventive maintenance
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including general building maintenance duties. Drives company vehicles as needed. Works any shift as needed. 24-hour a day emergency response as needed. Assist with the overall course maintenance tasks such as Mowing and Tree removal.

Working Environment:

• Indoor work for maintaining equipment
• Outdoor work in all types of weather

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED
• Positive Attitude
• 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing mechanical systems or both small and large motorized electric, gas, and diesel equipment.
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
• Highly organized
• Must be able to operate trucks and motorized equipment necessary for golf course maintenance, and have the ability to work independently.
• Requires ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs.
