Regulatory & Compliance Requirements – Idaho
In Idaho, Nurse Practitioners (NPs) benefit from full independent practice authority, allowing them to diagnose, treat, and manage patient care without physician oversight. However, depending on the healthcare setting, some employers may require a Collaborative Practice Agreement (CPA) with a physician.
For those with prescriptive authority, Idaho allows NPs to prescribe both non-controlled and controlled substances (Schedules II-V) as long as they maintain a valid DEA registration. Additionally, NPs must stay up to date with opioid prescribing education requirements if they intend to prescribe controlled substances.
To maintain licensure, Idaho requires NPs to complete 30 hours of continuing education (CE) every two years, with at least 10 of those hours focused on pharmacology for prescriptive authority renewal. These CE requirements help ensure providers stay informed on best practices, patient safety protocols, and evolving healthcare standards.
If you’re passionate about autonomous practice, patient-centered care, and making a real impact in wound management, this opportunity provides the flexibility and support needed to succeed in Idaho’s healthcare landscape.
