Salary Range : $70,000 - $80,000 per year

At OWP, we prioritize financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance and are seeking a high-caliber Staff Accountant to support our growing financial operations.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly self-motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our finance team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for multi-state financial operations, corporate credit card reconciliations, general accounting functions, financial compliance, strategic cost analysis, and AI-driven efficiency improvements.

The ideal candidate will possess :

  • A strong understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Google Business Suite (including Google Sheets), and financial reporting tools
  • Experience with or willingness to implement AI-driven financial automation tools
  • Healthcare industry and multi-state financial experience
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders
  • The ability to manage complex financial operations and provide expert advisory support

A CPA certification is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Perform day-to-day accounting operations, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports with minimal oversight.
  • Manage accounts receivable (AR) processes, including invoicing, payment collections, and customer account management.
  • Oversee accounts payable (AP) processes, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments.
  • Maintain vendor and customer records, resolving payment inquiries promptly.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and expense tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with multi-state financial regulations, including tax filings and state-specific reporting requirements.
  • Utilize QuickBooks and Google Sheets to manage financial data, analyze trends, and develop financial reports.
  • Corporate Credit Card Reconciliation & Expense Management

  • Review, reconcile, and process corporate credit card transactions in compliance with company policies.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of corporate credit card statements, investigating discrepancies and anomalies.
  • Work with cardholders to collect receipts, verify transactions, and ensure proper expense categorization.
  • Enforce company credit card policies, assisting in expense control and fraud prevention.
  • AI-Driven Process Automation & Efficiency

  • Identify, recommend, and implement AI-powered tools that streamline accounting, reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Evaluate compliance-friendly AI technologies to enhance financial workflows, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Automate data entry, invoice processing, and expense tracking to reduce manual workload.
  • Work with leadership to optimize reporting and forecasting through AI-enhanced analytics.
  • Ensure AI-driven solutions are compliant with financial regulations and meet data security standards.
  • Financial Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, IRS regulations, and financial policies across multi-state operations.
  • Manage compliance with federal and state financial regulations, including tax filings and audits.
  • Prepare and submit compliance reports and regulatory filings as required.
  • Support external audits by compiling documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Budgeting, Financial Analysis & Cost Optimization

  • Work with the CEO to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget variances, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Conduct cost analysis and financial modeling to support operational efficiency.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements to enhance financial performance.
  • Process Improvement & Technology Utilization

  • Identify automation opportunities to improve financial workflows.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enhance reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure strong internal controls and best practices in financial operations.
  • Stakeholder & Advisory Support

  • Provide expert advisory support on financial matters to internal teams.
  • Clearly and effectively communicate financial data to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial planning and compliance.
  • Handle challenging financial interactions professionally, demonstrating strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Qualifications & Experience

    Education & Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Advanced degrees a plus) .

  • CPA certification preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience

  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-state or healthcare-related organization.
  • Experience recommending and implementing AI-driven financial tools is highly desirable.
  • Technical & Digital Skills

  • Expert proficiency in QuickBooks and Google Business Suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive).
  • Strong financial reporting and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems or additional accounting software is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AI-powered financial tools for automation and efficiency.
  • Proficiency with Slack and other collaboration tools is advantageous.
