What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Youth Mentor (Part-time) position at OMNI Youth Services?
Job Summary:
To provide coaching, support and skill building to youth in the community setting. Services are provided mostly to those that speak Spanish as a primary language.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide coaching, support, and skill building to youth in the community. Focus on activities and experiential exercises focused on treatment goals.
- For juvenile justice involved youth, reducing recidivism, developing a positive support network, completing and/or re-engaging in school, obtaining employment, and linkage to needed support services.
- Coordinate and communicate regularly with primary mental health/substance use therapist.
- Meet and maintain agency’s standard quality of service.
- Adhere to all agency’s policies and procedures, including policies governing clients’ rights to privacy and the confidentiality of all information concerning clients.
- Maintain client files with clear and concise documentation of intervention efforts and in accordance with OMNI policies and contractual agreements using a trauma informed approach.
- Prepare required reports, case notes, entry into appropriate billing database, and other documentation on a timely basis.
- Participate in individual and group supervision, including collaboration on case planning among all involved clinical staff.
- Maintain regular communication with identified caregivers.
- Perform other duties which may be assigned to support the department’s or agency’s mission.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Fluent in Spanish in order to provide verbal and written communication.
- Flexibility and willingness to work evening and/or weekend hours if needed to carry out all job responsibilities.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to clients’ and coworkers’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Work effectively with diverse workforce and client groups.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and use of discretion in performance of duties operating within the limits of the agency’s standard practice.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Valid Drivers’ License and proof of insurance.
