Position Overview
The Business Development Assistant Director will support the development of pipeline of opportunities focused on the CPG sector of the Americas. Will manage targeted opportunities and drive them to conversion by working with cross functional teams with the objective of supporting regional revenue targets. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in sales and business development and a deep understanding of the nutrition and dietary supplement industry. This position reports to the Divisional VP, Business Development - CPG Group.
Strategy & Planning
- Work in conjunction with the BD Lead for CGP to identify Business Development opportunities for the region
- Support in building a pipeline for 0 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months and 12 to 18 months conversion horizon
- Support the organization on research on potential leads which can convert to potential pipeline
- Work cross functionally to capture new opportunities in partnership with the sales and marketing team to from the CPG group
Functional
- Cultivate and develop relationships with decision makers at the customer’s end in order to have a better understanding of the customer requirements
- Engage with key stakeholders (Product Development, R&D) at the Accounts to co-create product concepts. Draw support from the R&D team as required for this.
- Serve as the link of communication between identified prospective customers and internal teams. Mobilize resources as required to ensure differentiated service experience
- Work jointly with marketing team to utilize marketing resources for effectively tapping into the identified accounts
- Analyze the market information related to the accounts with respect to mergers, acquisitions, investments, expansion etc. and continually monitor the activities of competitors on the identified accounts
- Support regional sales team as needed to help open doors for new opportunities
- Ensure CRM is always updated with the latest status of each opportunity
- Forecast revenue as per the organization planning process to provide visibility of revenues
Skills & Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Graduate degree in management or business with a sales background is a plus
- Added qualifications in science will be preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in sales and BD in the nutrition, dietary supplement, pharmaceutical or life sciences industry
