Responsibilities

As a Senior Product Designer, you will be at the forefront of transforming the health tech industry, playing a pivotal role in translating requirements and customer challenges into innovative and valuable solutions. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conceptual Design: Transform high-level ideas into user-centric and impactful product designs that tackle the unique challenges of the healthcare domain.
  • End-to-End Flows: Design seamless end-to-end user flows using prototyping tools, ensuring an intuitive experience for healthcare professionals.
  • Design Systems: Evolve and contribute to design systems, showcasing your expertise in typography, UI design for desktop and mobile, color theory, layout, and iconography.
  • Strategic Decision-Making: Actively communicate and influence strategic decisions regarding the future direction of Omnicell's healthcare products, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, engineers, and researchers, overseeing the user experience from conception to launch, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Feedback and Mentorship: Provide and solicit constructive feedback within the product team, contributing to the continuous improvement of design quality. Embrace mentorship opportunities to support the growth and development of fellow designers.
  • Research and Validation: Create basic research plans, conduct user interviews, and synthesize findings to inform design decisions. Collaborate with our internal clinical team to validate real-world use cases, ensuring designs meet practical needs.
  • Design Specifications: After reviewing and approving proposed workflows, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive design specifications that are meticulously annotated, providing clarity to engineers during the development phase.
  • Post-Handoff Engagement: Remain actively engaged post-handoff to address implementation questions from the engineering team and resolve any edge cases that may arise during development, ensuring the successful translation of design concepts into functional, user-centric applications.
  • Open Communication: Maintain open communication channels with project stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and subject matter experts, to facilitate collaborative decision-making and ensure alignment with project objectives and requirements.

As a Product Designer, your contributions will be vital in shaping exceptional user experiences. Here’s a list of deliverables that highlight your impact:

  • Documenting User Problems: Capture and articulate user challenges with clarity, ensuring that every voice is heard and understood.
  • Journey Maps: Create insightful journey maps that visualize the user experience, identifying key touchpoints and opportunities for enhancement.
  • Design Principles: Develop and document design principles that guide the creation of features and products, ensuring consistency and alignment with user needs.
  • Low-Fidelity Wireframes: Craft low-fidelity wireframes or concepts that serve as the foundation for innovative design solutions, encouraging collaboration and feedback.
  • High-Fidelity Mockups: Produce stunning high-fidelity mocks in Figma, utilizing both new and existing components to bring your vision to life.
  • Clickable Prototypes: Design interactive clickable prototypes that allow stakeholders to experience the product flow and functionality firsthand.
  • Documenting Design Decisions: Maintain thorough documentation of design decisions, providing transparency and rationale for your creative choices.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Showcase a breadth of creative problem-solving skills, framing solutions in a "good, better, best" format.
  • Articulating Pros and Cons: Clearly articulate the pros and cons of each design concept, fostering informed decision-making among stakeholders.
  • Structured Presentations: Present your work in an easy-to-follow and structured format, making it accessible and engaging for all audiences.
  • Research Plans: Demonstrate a basic understanding of research methodologies by creating simplified research plans that guide user insights.
  • Design Specifications: Deliver comprehensive design specs with detailed annotations, ensuring engineers have the clarity they need for implementation.
  • Timely Deliverables: Exhibit the ability to deliver designs at various stages of completion, adhering to a self-imposed project timeline that keeps the team on track.
  • Confident Presentations: Present your work with clarity and confidence during leadership review meetings and to customers, inspiring trust and excitement.
  • Weekly Team Sharing: Share your work on a weekly basis with the design team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Feedback Culture: Engage in giving and receiving feedback both verbally and in writing, nurturing a supportive environment for growth and innovation.
  • Collaborative Reviews: Review designs with Product Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Engineers, and Design Leadership before handing off to engineers, ensuring a seamless transition to implementation.


Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Experience: Over 7 years of hands-on experience in building and shipping applications or software.
  • Interaction Design: Over 7 years of interaction design experience, demonstrating the ability to define and advocate for user experiences based on deep understanding and consideration of user needs.
  • Visual Design: Over 7 years of visual design experience, showcasing proficiency in typography, UI design, color theory, layout, iconography, and a keen aesthetic sense.
  • Strategic Product Thinking: Over 7 years of strategic product thinking, with a track record of developing product goals and making decisions that positively impact both people and the company.
  • Communication: Experience representing design work to senior executives, articulating goals and concepts clearly and succinctly.


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (UX/Visual Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology, Industrial Design, or similar degrees preferred)
  • 7 years of Product Design Experience


Preferred Qualifications

  • End-to-End Design Process: Experience showcasing your end-to-end design process across multiple projects, including interaction and visual design artifacts, high-fidelity prototypes, and a keen understanding of the impact and scale of your work.
  • Collaboration Skills: Proven experience connecting your work with other industry-leading initiatives across the company, fostering collaboration and driving innovation.
  • Leadership Impact: Examples of leadership in non-product dimensions that have strengthened the team and positively influenced the work environment.
