Specific Job Function: We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Leader to join our team. The EHS Leader will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental health, safety programs and safety policies. To ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Directs and is actively involved in a proactive safety program
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into manufacturing processes and facility design.
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees and management.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Handle all work comp claims from submission to claim closure.
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company's EHS programs remain effective and compliant.
- Manage relationships with regulatory agencies and participate in audits and inspections.
- Work closely with CI for implementation of improved safety practices.
- New employee orientation regarding safety practices.
- Champion a safety committee.
- Keep all SDS materials to date.
- Establish a reporting system that centralizes all work-related incident reports for proper documentation to fulfill OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
- Professional certification in EHS (e.g., CSP, CIH, ASP) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in EHS management within a manufacturing environment.
- Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage others.
- Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs, ladders and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to actively lead in hands-on EHS activities, including keeping buildings and property up to safety codes, inspections and training sessions.
- Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
- Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
- Ability to support other shifts for training when necessary.
