Our client is seeking a Scientific Project Manager to support the Vaccine Production Program (VPP) Operations Group for a federal customer in Gaithersburg, MD.
This role will involve evaluating and improving systems, protocols, and workflows within VPP, ensuring compatibility with NIAID instruments, generating and implementing SOPs, and supporting daily operational tasks. The ideal candidate will possess a background in information technology with experience in systems evaluation, SOP creation, and staff training. Telework is subject to approval.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Evaluation and Improvement:
- Evaluate existing systems and protocols within the VPP operations group, covering materials management, equipment, data and document repositories, and internal request systems.
- Recommend improvements to increase automation, organization, and efficiency within these systems.
- Coordinate with other NIAID groups to ensure software compatibility with VPP instruments.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Development:
- Assist in generating SOPs for VPP system usage and conduct staff training to ensure adherence.
- Support VPP Document Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in assessing the current Electronic Notebook system for functionality and training.
Document and Workflow Management:
- Produce necessary documents to support business processes, including analysis and assessment of workflows, inventories, and service contract documentation.
- Organize and maintain the VPP SharePoint site, ensuring alignment with VPP’s strategic goals.
Operational Support:
- Aid in receiving packages, managing inventory, coordinating vendor guest visits, assisting with consumable deliveries, and supporting emergency response efforts, including spill cleanup and fire evacuation.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for VPP-specific software product lifecycle.
Additional Support and Compliance:
- Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement objectives.
- Provide support for scientific operation teams on tasks such as package delivery, inventory mark-up, instrument inventory, and emergency protocols.
Qualifications:
- Education: M.S. in Information Technology or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in information technology, with a strong understanding of current software technologies and systems.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in SmartSheet, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs) is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
