OmniSync is a venture and government backed dual use SaaS company transforming the way public and private sectors innovate. Our best-in-class AI / NLP-powered marketplaces democratize access to public / private innovation funds. We make it quick and easy for anyone who needs deep market intelligence, predictive insights, and critical resources to make informed decisions.

Our platforms include :

TurboSBIR, assisting innovators in finding and applying for innovation grants and contracts from US Federal government agencies.
TurboInnovate, generating comprehensive market research reports within minutes. Subscribers have access to and the ability to review patients / trademarks / IP, funding trends, competitors, potential leads, and investors for their preferred domains, and much more.

As a Principal Data and AI Architect, you will be a vital leader fully responsible for the development and execution of OmniSync’s strategies and delivery of all data, modeling, insights, roadmaps, growth, and expansion of the company’s data and AI initiatives. In addition to your managerial role, you should be comfortable with prototyping and testing, and be able to quickly iterate and optimize your algorithms. This is NOT a manage-only role; we expect you to also get in the weeds with your team and code! You should have a keen interest in staying up to date with the latest technologies and understanding the implications for our industry.

You must have proven experience managing a diverse team of data scientists, engineers, and other support personnel to ensure the development and execution of the company goals. As a data-driven company, you must be able to develop and manage your teams’ OKRs and KPIs to achieve the company’s goals. You should have an entrepreneurial spirit, resilience, tenacity, grit, and the ability to thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing environment of a scaling startup. You will maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality with all materials and exercise a high level of discretion when interfacing with all aspects of the role and will represent OmniSync in a positive light through superior follow-through and sound judgment.

You will be responsible for designing and creating innovative solutions by using data-driven discovery techniques on complex, dynamical, and high-dimensional data sets, implementing data science and artificial intelligence methods, high-performance computing, and integration of these methods into software pipelines. You will participate in state-of-the-art research and application of modern data and software techniques to a wide variety of systems data. Experience with modern deep learning techniques in NLP including sequence-to-sequence models, distributed representations, pointer networks, attentional models, etc.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following :

Define and own the standard of excellence for data science, machine learning, and AI.

Demonstrate strong technical expertise in order to promote best practices related to programming environments, technology, and programming skillsets.

Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of data and AI projects, including data acquisition, preprocessing, modeling, validation, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

Operate within the data and AI governance framework to ensure ethical, legal, and responsible use of data and AI across the organization.

Develop and maintain repeatable processes, playbooks, standards, and best practices to ensure the team is identifying and delivering cumulative value with zero technical debt and to drive adoption, consistency, and scale across the team.

Supervise the team and provide mentorship, guidance, feedback, training, and support.

Monitor progress and submit performance reports for team and direct reports.

Manage the daily operations of your teams and assist internal teams and stakeholders in having all resources needed from your team.

Promote a culture of continuous learning and adapting by evaluating and adopting new emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies that enhance the data and AI capabilities and performance of the team and the organization.

Develop comprehensive and easily comprehended reports / dashboards to deliver strategic, easily digestible data and perform analytics gap analyses with key stakeholders.

Conduct algorithmic research, provide recommendations, and roadmap the implementation of complex information, such as mathematics, programming, problem-solving, planning, and modeling.

Design and implement NLP models and techniques for text generation, information retrieval, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, topic modeling, and machine translation.

Document experiments findings and results with supporting summary statistics for discussion and review.

Write production and deployment code, iterate deployed models for optimal performance and inference speed.

Fine-tune and serve LLMs to help build best-in-class solutions on NLP and Generative AI.

Stay up-to-date with recent advancements in NLP and large language models, applying novel techniques and methodologies to improve our models.

Perform other duties, research, and special projects, as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Computational Linguistics.

Excellent leader that inspires teams and enables them to exceed their goals and a collective drive of producing superior results.

Solid fundamentals in mathematics, statistics, and machine learning theory with a minimum of 15 years of commercial experience (or equivalent) in natural language processing, understanding, Transformers, LLMs, Federated Learning, Transfer Learning, Generative AI, Graph Neural Networks.

Demonstrated expertise in applying advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to real-world problems, such as predictive modeling, natural language processing, or recommender systems at scale.

Demonstrated expertise in managing the entire AI / ML lifecycle, from ideation, data acquisition and model training, to production deployment and monitoring, including developing scalable AI / ML CI / CD solutions.

Demonstrable mastery in Python, Relational and NoSQL Databases, Data Modeling and Engineering, Statistical Analysis, Cloud Technologies (AWS and Google Cloud), and Machine Learning.

Strong time management and ability to prioritize multiple projects with various urgency and deadlines.

Keen organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

English fluency with exquisite written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and engage with partners.

Salary : $160,000.00 - $190,000.00 USD

Full benefits coverage, 401K plans with matching, plus stock options.

Hybrid : Must be able and willing to be in our office in San Diego, 92123 at least twice a week with additional days as needed for innovation-fostering collaborations.
