What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety and Security Supervisor position at OMSI - Oregon Museum of Science & Industry?
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) is seeking a full-time Safety & Security Supervisor. In this role, the supervisor is part of a team responsible for the safety and well-being of employees, volunteers, and visitors. They serve as a main point of contact for security officer personnel during their shifts, and provide support and input on security team-related matters under the guidance of the Safety, Health, and Security Manager.
The supervisor also is an active security officer, required to respond to various types of emergencies such as first aid, lockdowns, missing persons, fire alarms, and more. They also play an integral role in the guest experience and contribute by ensuring parking lot signage is in place, responding to customer questions, and ensuring the property is ready for opening.
Qualified candidates will have 2 years of security experience (e.g. security officer, loss prevention, etc.) and have the ability to lead and supervise a team of security professionals. Candidates must have knowledge of security practices, ability to defuse aggression, objection, or conflict using culturally competent, anti-racist, and empathetic responses, as well as ability to positively engage with the houseless community.
This position requires working onsite at the museum location, working one weekend day, and evening shifts depending on business needs.
