OMW Corporation is a highly respected contract manufacturing company specializing in precision machining of custom metal and plastic parts for some of the world’s largest aerospace, electronics, and healthcare companies. We’ve been in business for over 25 years, own our own building, and are rapidly growing. We are looking for another team member to join us full time and long term.
Description of Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking support in our second or third shifts working a 4-10 hour schedule. Setup machinists are responsible for setup and operating 3-5 axis CNC machine cells as well as standalone machines with minimal assistance to produce complex machined aerospace parts. This position requires machine setup including preparing and setting up fixtures and cutting tools. Additionally, setup machinists will be loading and adjusting CNC programs and offsets, and programming 2D and basic 3D parts. They will use advanced quality inspection tools and techniques. Examples of these include height and and bench inspection to verify parts are aligned with customer specifications.
Hard Skills
- Capable of setting up and performing the requirements of new or difficult product families with moderate to minimal assistance on multiple different machine controls
- Maintain product quality through monitoring and adjusting CNC offsets as needed
- The ability to identify and correctly load and secure fixtures with minimal assistance
- A working knowledge of G and M codes applied in setting and adjusting offsets and interacting with CNC programs
- Ability to read prints and apply dimensional specifications to inspection processes
- Ability to find or calculate missing dimensions
- Able to read mechanical assembly drawings
- Strong ability to visually inspect parts, able to troubleshoot tool degradation and breakage easily using visual techniques
- Must be proficient in reading precision measuring devices
- Achieve and maintain quality throughout the entire production process by verifying requirements by the use of precision measuring equipment
- Order and maintain tools as need for jobs
- Strong mechanical skill set and attention to detail
- Ability to research, comprehend and retain job related information and instructions

- Demonstrated ability to be flexible within job disciplines
- Demonstrate good communication with your trainer and co-workers and use time wisely
- Work overtime as required to meet customer schedule
- Maintain quality standards focusing on learning how to reduce the number of defects due to workmanship

- Capable of training new employees machine operation
- Good communication skills to communicate professionally with shop personnel and management
- Troubleshoot and communicate quality problems
- Position requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Education and Experience
- High School or equivalent
- Good English communication skills
- Typically, 1 - 3 years of related experience
Compensation based on experience.
