RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for Product and Process Quality Control Sampling and Measurement
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices within the area of responsibility.
- Perform work duties in accordance with Omya procedures.
- Perform the required quality testing on returned samples, retained samples, lot number samples, ore samples, in-process samples and compare test results and promptly inform Plant Manager in the case of irregularities. Track and explain test results to appropriate individuals.
- Report on daily achievement of planned samples and communicate to management.
- Work with regional laboratory and other contract laboratories if requested analysis cannot be done on site. Prepare test reports to aggregate multiple results for presentation to management, distribute reports to requestor and file reports appropriately. Prepare samples for outside laboratory analysis as needed.
- Maintain storage of retained samples taken from production and inventory.
- Responsible for generation, timely transmittal, and filing of certificates of analysis/compliance.
- Participate in the development of quality control procedures required for consistent production; Review procedures periodically and recommend revisions if warranted.
- Responsible for evaluating and qualifying manufacturing process and consumables changes that may affect quality and availability of finished products by creating, administering, completing and filing test plans for new or existing products and process/product changes using the Management of Change (MOC) system.
- Inspect, maintain and schedule service, repair and calibration of all laboratory equipment used for quality control, reporting damaged or defective equipment to Plant Manager.
- Maintain an adequate amount of product for sample orders, and appropriate certificate of analysis, and ensure that all products used for sample orders are within specifications.
- Responsible for periodic training of production workers on quality and process control practices and their implementation in the manufacturing and the quality control process.
- Perform measurements on samples.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and Plant Manager.
- Be aware and accustomed with the significant quality, safety/health, and environmental (QSHE) aspects/impacts associated with the work, including relevant legal/other requirements and emergency preparedness and response.
o Ensure that product and process requirements are defined and maintained.
o Support plant development projects by organizing proper samples testing of raw materials, in process production, and finished product storage/shipments
2. Responsible for the application of Quality, Environment and Health and Safety considerations into the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and related projects
- BBS (Behavior Based Safety): Monthly documentation of task-based observations in order to promote safe work practices and provide positive reinforcement.
- Oversee the Incident Management system to ensure compliance to requirements.
- Ensure that site procedures and instructions are maintained and available to users.
- Investigate and resolve all customer complaints.
- Conduct risk assessments for capital projects and changes within the MOC system.
- Support the Joint Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Committee as Member.
3. Oversee all aspects of the (IMS) to ensure continuous improvement
o Actively participate in root cause determinations and application of corrective actions as applicable.
o Report the performance of management system to the to the management team to ensure its continuing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
o Conduct/coordinate Internal Audits to ensure continuous improvement and evaluate effectiveness of the IMS
o Identify opportunities to improve IMS
o Compile data for monthly activity reports (ex. LIMS, QSHE KPIs, objectives, OMIS)
4. Supervise laboratory operations
o Ensure that product and method requirements are defined, maintained, and followed.
o Monitor laboratory operating procedures and equipment to ensure that materials analyses are conducted according to established standards and quality.
o Align priorities for laboratory analyses and manage issues as needed.
o Record test results in computer-based data retention system.
o Log new samples into computer-based laboratory management system.
o Set personal objectives (MBO) for Quality function and monitor progress
5. Responsible for sustainable development initiatives and stakeholder concerns.
o Coordinate communication with external parties on matters relating to IMS and ISO/OHSAS registrations
o Act as site representative to external stakeholders for sustainable development initiatives or other stakeholder concerns.
o Organize and support Sustainability (QSHE) engagement days ate the site, including planning, documenting, and sharing events with management.
o Collaborate with the Sales team and all related stakeholders regarding product and quality control related issues and complaints
o Coordinate with production regarding all product and quality control related risks, issues and problem solving
6. Manage assigned projects and support team members in their own assigned projects
o Assist Production Manager and Plant Manager
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.50 - $25.00 per hour
