Job Summary:
The Packaging Operator role encompasses a diverse range of tasks, including the setup and operation of our railcar loadout system, bulk bagging machinery, and automated palletizing machines. - Quality Control: Consistently provide samples to our Lab for rigorous testing of systems and products, upholding the highest quality standards to guarantee customer satisfaction and adherence to regulatory requirements. Remain prepared to swiftly implement corrective actions based on lab data and operational demands, ensuring any quality discrepancies are promptly rectified. Diligently safeguard product integrity at every phase of packaging, loading, and transportation, and proactively resolve any issues with damaged goods to maintain our commitment to excellence.
- Product Integrity: Maintain the utmost level of product purity, preventing contamination during product changes or equipment operation transitions.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct thorough shift inspections of equipment and processes to ensure operational excellence. Maintain and repair machinery with precision, and when faced with complex issues, collaborate effectively with Maintenance teams to swiftly address and resolve them. This proactive approach is key to minimizing downtime and sustaining a consistent production of packaged material.
- Housekeeping Standards: Ensure all areas, including machinery and equipment, are kept clean and free from debris to maintain a safe and efficient working environment. Confirm that all items are stored in their designated locations to facilitate easy access and prevent obstructions.
- Documentation: Keep meticulous records of shipments, key parameters and equipment status, ensuring seamless transitions between shifts and informed management decisions.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work proactively with supporting departments to complete tasks and resolve issues, upholding the standard of quality products.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and quality procedures, aiming for a zero lost time injury record and conducting daily inspections of the Warehouse to preemptively address hazards. Safely and effectively load products onto various modes of transportation, including trucks, boxcars, and railcars, ensuring secure and timely delivery.
- Continuous Learning: Pursue ongoing education to deepen understanding of Warehouse processes and best practices.
- Versatility and Leadership: Exhibit the adaptability and preparedness to seamlessly transition into the Lead Operator role when the situation demands or upon instruction from the Warehouse Supervisor. This involves providing strategic guidance to the shift, adeptly managing packaging processes, and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of operations.
- Emergency Response: Promptly report any accidents, safety violations, or incidents to the area supervisor. Respond effectively to emergencies, following the lead of the Warehouse Supervisor or Foreman to address safety, environmental, or operational urgencies.
- Flexibility: Be willing to work overtime and accept call-ins as needed.
- Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a team-oriented mindset.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical training or certifications in industrial equipment operation are highly desirable.
Technical Proficiency:
- Proven proficiency in operating heavy machinery, including forklifts and trackmobiles.
- Computer literacy is essential, with the ability to efficiently navigate and utilize various software systems.
Operational Skills:
- The ability to read, comprehend, and effectively communicate procedures and instructions is crucial.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills, coupled with a keen mechanical aptitude, are important in reducing downtime.
Physical Capabilities:
- Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs. and performing various physical tasks such as reaching, climbing, and moving on and off industrial equipment.
