Overview/Summary:
On-Board Engineering Corp. is hiring a Full-Time Construction Manager to be assigned to a client chemical manufacturing site in Marlborough, MA. The Construction Manager (CM) reports to the Electronics & Industrial (E&I) Global Construction Manager and is accountable for all aspects of capital project Construction Management for the Marlborough site. The CM is the Subject Matter Expert regarding the implementation strategies and execution of all construction activities supporting assigned capital projects. The CM is expected to lead capital construction projects at the site level, ensuring safe and cost-effective execution. The CM must collaborate/interface with the Regional Capital Execution Leaders, Site Engineering Leaders, and Project Team Leaders (PTL) to ensure the full range of capital engineering capabilities are in place to efficiently execute projects. Success is measured by safety performance, predictable project cost and spending, schedule compliance, and the quality of facilities under their responsibility.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide Owner’s Role Construction Leadership in the field, ensuring safe and efficient project delivery.
- Ensure construction contracting processes for assigned capital projects are executed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain effective communication with any contracted Construction Management (CM) service, ensuring expectations are met in all areas, including core values, productivity, quality, cost, and schedule.
- Ensure timely and appropriate construction inputs to influence and determine execution strategies during the FEL process.
- Partner with Contractor Construction Management (CM) resources to enable safe and efficient execution of field construction activities.
- Ensure alignment of Owner Construction needs and objectives before engaging contractors.
- Ensure all construction processes strictly adhere to the Client Corporate/Business Intellectual Property (IP)/Trade Secrets (TS) content policy.
- Implement execution metrics with targets and improvement actions to drive construction execution excellence.
- Develop and implement Project Quality Plans, including auditing work processes and deliverables for compliance and meeting project quality requirements.
- Work closely with the Capital Engineering Leader, Regional Capital Execution Leaders, and Global Construction Manager to develop appropriate execution strategies.
- Ensure engineering deliverables are at the appropriate level of completeness and quality in preparation for each Gate Review.
- Collaborate effectively with all customers and stakeholders, including plant personnel, Contract Partners, and EPC firms.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Engineering Degree or demonstrated equivalent competency through construction work experience.
- 10 years of direct experience as a Construction Manager on major/complex capital projects.
- Capable of managing projects ranging from $200M to $60MM
- Strong knowledge of all project disciplines, including the safe execution of high-risk activities with appropriate mitigation plans.
- Owner signoff on critical lifts and development of project safety plans and construction hazard reviews.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving business and project results on capital projects.
- Strong expertise in Construction Competency through experience in Project Leadership, Construction Management, and Contract Administration.
- Mastery of construction contracting strategies and contract management.
- Experience in commissioning and startup coordination to ensure successful operational handoff
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrates a value for diversity.
- Strong communication, planning, networking, organizing, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to lead major change with a bias for decision-making.
