Job Title: Materials Scientist - Emulsification and Encapsulation Specialist with Probiotic expertise
Summary: We are seeking an innovative and results-driven Materials Scientist with a specialization in emulsification and encapsulation technologies to lead cutting-edge research and development. In this role, you will drive the development of new formulations and systems, optimizing product performance and commercialization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges, enhance product functionality, and ensure the successful integration of new materials and processes. This is a highly collaborative position where your contributions will directly influence the evolution of products and processes in the food industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead R&D efforts to design and optimize emulsification, encapsulation, and carrier systems for product development, focusing on enhancing product stability, efficacy, and functionality.
- Drive innovation in active material dispersion, ensuring consistency and quality across formulations.
- Manage technical projects from concept to commercialization, ensuring project milestones are met and risks are mitigated.
- Communicate project progress and outcomes through clear, concise presentations and detailed technical reports to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the process application team to solve customer-specific challenges and improve product performance.
- Foster a culture of safety and quality by maintaining a compliant, well-organized lab environment and adhering to food safety standards in all development activities.
- Support ongoing technical projects under the supervision of the Principal Scientist or Head of R&D, contributing to long-term research goals.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Expertise in materials science with a focus on emulsions and encapsulation in relation to probiotics, supported by a minimum of 5 years’ R&D experience in a regulated industry.
- Proficiency in chemical and statistical analysis, with strong skills in computational modeling to drive formulation improvements.
- Demonstrated experience with analytical instrumentation, including particle size analyzers, rheometers, high-pressure homogenizers, scanning electron microscopes, and differential scanning calorimeters, HPLC and GC.
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems, troubleshoot formulation challenges, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
- Strong understanding of ingredient functionality, food engineering principles, and food chemistry.
- Hands-on experience in analytical methods and a familiarity with sensory science and product testing.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present technical findings and project updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organized with a proven track record in project management, able to balance multiple priorities effectively.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Food Science, or a related field.
- Direct experience in emulsion and encapsulation technologies, with a demonstrated ability to translate R&D findings into commercial successes.
- Strong working knowledge of emulsifiers and carrier materials, with a portfolio of successful research projects or product developments.
- Experience with Probiotics
