On Point National Dance Competition is an amateur dance competition for youth ages 4-18. When a dance competition venue is set up the doors are opened and hundreds of dancers arrive with their talents and enthusiasm. At the Director’s queue, the first routine is called to the stage and there is an anticipatory silence but when the music starts the building comes alive with unmatched energy and excitement that lasts the entire weekend! The Awards Coordinator is responsible for working with auditors to prepare trophies, pins, plaques, and medals for awards ceremonies. The ideal candidate will be able to: concentrate and manage production details in a busy and loud environment; multi-task and assist the Backstage Manager when needed; and enjoy interacting with children of all ages. Because Award Coordinator duties include presenting awards to performers on stage, the applicant needs to be outgoing, comfortable in front of audiences, and have the ability to improvise spontaneously. The position will also include a variety of other duties including setting up/breaking down each event and inventorying awards.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and based in/near Central NJ with the ability to travel the east coast. Most weekends will include a Friday departure and a Monday return. The Awards Coordinator will have a valid driver’s license and their own reliable transportation to On Point’s corporate office.
Qualified candidates must meet the following expectations:
- Detail oriented and extremely organized
- HIGH ENERGY with a positive personality
- Outstanding customer service skills. Must enjoy interacting with the public, especially children!
- MUST be comfortable in front of audiences
- Well-groomed appearance
- Able to work long hours in high-stress theatrical production environments
- Physically able to lift/lower equipment for load-in/load-out at corporate office and for set-up/break-down at each event
- May be responsible for driving company van, paid for by On Point
- Past dance convention/competition experience is a HUGE PLUS!
This position is a part-time, seasonal, 1099 contract position. Please do not apply unless you are available all of the following weekends – including Thursdays and Mondays:
- March 21-23 (if available, but not mandatory)
- March 28-30
- April 4-6
- April 11-13
- May 16-18
